 This is a great video to keep archived (see below). It has a bit of the history of the Dollar as it became the reserve currency. It was designed to facilitate business and trade not hinder it as the U.S. is doing now. Now we can see why BRICS was formed and why Saudi Arabia is wanting to join it along with other countries.  Greed, envy, gluttony, global hegemony, etc became the status quo for becoming rich using this form of currency over the last several years. It only made us into mad consumers and ignorant citizens willing to watch circuses (sports) over becoming a better civilization.

Today, countries and investors holding dollar assets are no longer as comfortable as they once were, and more and more countries are using non-dollar currencies to settle their trade. The other day, India bought a large amount of Russian coal and chose to pay for it in yuan. More recently, Israel, Switzerland and others have boosted the proportion of the yuan in their foreign exchange reserves, proving that these financial players are also reducing their exposure to the dollar. Against the US national debt to GDP ratio, a depreciation of the dollar is inevitable.
